Encuentro is a three-day convening of LGBTQ Latinx Southerners and allies to improve the healthcare capacity and build bridges between emerging multi-racial and multi-lingual Southern Latinx communities and their kindred.
Our convening features panel presentations, workshops, and keynote speakers that will focus on wellness in the Latinx community as part of our linguistic, sexual, and financial health.
This year's Encuentro will be hosted in San Antonio, Texas on October 25-27, 2023.
The Encuentro was born from our 2019 Southern Latinx LGBTQ+ Regional Assessment where we hosted focus groups, conducted interviews, and surveyed LGBTQ+ Latinx community members and allies from the deep south. Overwhelmingly, participants spoke about the isolation and invisibility of Latinx LGBTQ+ individuals, which continues to be exacerbated by the anti-immigrant political climate, homophobia, transphobia, and the lack of safe and inclusive spaces to gather.
The Encuentro is a community-driven, three-day convening, that brings together LGBTQ Latinx southerners and allies to establish a collective vision for advocacy in the South, challenge their own stories , and increase their organizational development and leadership skills.
This year, our Encuentro will take place in San Antonio, TX from Oct. 25-27. Registration is open until Oct. 15.
El Encuentro nació de nuestra Evaluación Regional LGBTQ+ Latinx del Sur de 2019, donde organizamos grupos focales, realizamos entrevistas y encuestamos a miembres y aliades de la comunidad LGBTQ+ Latina del Sureste. De manera abrumadora, les participantes hablaron sobre el aislamiento y la invisibilidad de las personas Latinx LGBTQ+, que continúa siendo exacerbado por el clima político antiinmigrante, la homofobia, la transfobia y la falta de espacios seguros e inclusivos para reunirse.
El Encuentro es una convocatoria de tres días impulsada por la comunidad que reúne a sureños latines LGBTQ+ y aliades para establecer una visión colectiva de incidencia en el Sur, desafiar sus propias historias y aumentar su desarrollo organizacional y sus habilidades de liderazgo.
Este año, nuestro Encuentro se llevará a cabo en San Antonio, TX del 25 al 27 de octubre. La inscripción está abierta hasta el 15 de octubre.

Special priority will be given to people of color living with HIV in the South, Latino Commission on AIDS leadership institutes participants, and Southern LGBTQ individuals. We will also give priority to participants that can attend for the entirety of the Encuentro. The deadline to submit is August 4, 2023.
