about the encuentro
Encuentro 2022 is a three-day convening of LGBTQ Latinx Southerners and allies to improve the healthcare capacity and build bridges between emerging multi-racial and multi-lingual Southern Latinx communities and their kindred.
This year, we will be convening in person and we're proud to invite you to our celebration of Latinos in the South 15 year anniversary. We invite you to join us in our festivities as we spotlight the work in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN, and TX while centering our wellness.
Our convening will feature panel presentations, workshops, and keynote speakers that will focus on wellness in the Latinx community as part of our linguistic, sexual, and financial health.
The Encuentro would not be possible without the support from our corporate and community sponsors. Sponsors help us create spaces for mobilization, capacity building, and co-learning for Latinx LGBTQ individuals and allies from across the South.
We expect Latinx LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies from across the Southeast to strategize and envision new possibilities for the South. Our Encuentro is focused on strengthening the work and skills of attendees but it is also a celebration of the resiliency and determination of our communities.

This year, we will continue to ensure that all our sessions are available with English and Spanish interpretation. We are excited to partner with tilde Language Justice Cooperative. We look forward to building our capacity to offer language services in languages beyond English and Spanish such as ASL, Arabic, Portuguese, and others.
gender neutral restrooms
It is demoralizing that sanctioned discrimination could be a cause contemplated, let alone endorsed, by public officials elected to represent a diverse and complete constituency. We are proud that the vibrant city of Durham is home to 21c Museum Hotel, and we humbly stand with fellow North Carolinians who petition the repeal of House Bill 2.
The 21C Museum Hotel has gender-neutral restrooms throughout the hotel for our participants including single-stall restrooms with Everyone All Ways signs.
Our commitment to health and accessibility includes the provision of masks, COVID-19 tests for participants as they arrive to the Encuentro, and inquiries about vaccination status.
All conference attendees must be vaccinated or present a COVID-19 negative test prior to the start of the Encuentro.
Our Encuentro would not be possible without the support of our Sponsors.
